Mission Statement

The North American Council for Anthroposophic Curative Education and Social Therapy is dedicated to serving and nurturing the spiritual image of the human being and the community through Anthroposophic curative education, youth guidance and social therapy.

The purpose of the Council is to support, foster and facilitate communication and cooperation among Anthroposophic schools, lifesharing households, communities and other related endeavors working within these realms in North America, forming a link to the Council of the Medical Section at the Goetheanum and its work throughout the world.

Some member organizations are over forty years old and others are newly started.  Still others are forming right now!  For example: a farm, a school, life-sharing communities of three or three hundred people-all are quite different and deal with different needs.  There is a real diversity of communities, programs and environments among our members but all are guided and inspired by the philosophical ideas of Rudolf Steiner Ph.D. (1861-1925), a world view known as Anthroposophy.  Each independent organization strives to create an environment that nourishes and recognizes the  healthy, whole and intact sprit of children and adults with special needs. Each organization meets the needs of individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health issues, and social problems that challenge a full and balanced interaction with the world.
